While all of the other conferences are finishing up their respective non-con games, Big East Basketball is already fully in gear. League play started this week, with the DePaul Blue Demons on idle to start. But in just the first five games alone, we saw three significant upsets, along with two other notable results.

Rather than asking if the preseason top teams are in trouble after one loss, why not look at the underdogs who just pulled off a big win? This piece will look at the five teams currently 1-0 in Big East Basketball play and asking... who among them are serious threats to make the NCAA Tournament?

Butler Bulldogs - 10-2 (1-0)

The Bulldogs had the easiest of the opening Big East Basketball matchups, beating Georgetown at home. The final score was 74-64, led by 13 pts, 7 asts, and 5 stls from Posh Alexander. Four players had at least 12 pts, making it a balanced effort for them.

The win makes it seven straight for Butler, with two of them (Cal and Texas Tech) coming in overtime. This is a team that only has two losses (Michigan State and FAU) and has been a major surprise in the Big East and national landscape.

Pierre Brooks (16.5 ppg) has been one of the big impact transfers coming over from Michigan State, while Posh Alexander has helped on both ends of the court. Coach Thad Matta is still one of the best in the game so with an improved roster, it's not a shock that the program is back on track and should be in a good spot to go dancing.
