Villanova Wildcats - 8-4 (1-0)

The was one road team who won on Wednesday night, Villanova over Creighton. It ended up being the most fun game, with the contest going to overtime, before the Wildcats won, 68-66. Eric Dixon continues to excel on the season overall, going for 32 pts, while Hakim Hart chipped in with 12 pts off the bench. Tyler Burton grabbed 12 rebounds on the night.

It's been a weird season for the Wildcats to this point. They now have wins over Creighton, Maryland, UCLA, Texas Tech, UNC, and Memphis. A few of those are likely to be singature victories to power up their Bracketology resume. They also have loses to Penn, St. Joe's, Kansas State, and Drexel. The losses to the local Philly programs could end up being Quad 4 setbacks depending on how things go for them in league play.

The big reason for the inconsistent results has been the inconsistent play of the incoming transfers that were highly regarded in the offseason. None of them are currently averaging double figures on the season, though Burton has at least helped them on the boards. Dixon, who leads the team with 15.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg on the year, has single-handedly won them games and should be a clear candidate for Big East Basketball Player of the Year.

Do I trust that Villanova is a team that can win big games if Dixon doesn't go off? No. But am I a believer that they'll get to the NCAA Tournament? Yes, because the resume is too good to not get in at this point.
