5. Wesley Cardet (Providence)

For Chicago State basketball, Wesley Cardet had to put up some big numbers for a team that had a lack of success out there in the Midwest. But for the Cougars, he was able to put up 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists along with 44.4 percent shooting from the field. Cardet is a problem when it comes to his offensive play, and now takes a huge competition jump to the Big East Conference.

Cardet is a star who can score at will though, and while his three-point shooting numbers are nothing to be impressed by, his ability to get to the basket and go to work is. He got to the free throw line with consistency and was trusted with the ball at that forward spot. The Tallahassee, Florida native plays with a ton of energy, and that will be needed in this Kim English system that is all about high power and fire.

For Providence, this is a major transfer get that will play a big part in replacing the play of Devin Carter. English is just going out and getting his guys to make some big things happen in this conference. And this is just another example of how impressive he has been in keeping this program not just alive, but competitive after the departure of Cooley after his success up in Rhode Island. Cardet brings a lot to the table with his skillset, and it will be put to work as this team looks to make waves in this conference.
