3. Deivon Smith (St. John's)

Rick Pitino created a nice dynamic duo in the transfer portal, and Deivon Smith is one of those guys. The 6’0 guard coming over from Utah will have plenty of experience under his belt, and he made a name for himself in the PAC-12 this past season. Smith had a knack for the triple-double, his five last season became an all-time PAC-12 record, and second all-time in NCAA play for most triple-doubles in a single season.

He is a well-rounded guard who stuffs up the stat sheet in just about every way possible. He put up 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game and was relied upon by that Utes squad. His team made it all the way to the NIT semifinals in a major year for the Utah basketball program. Smith then capitalized on this great season with what is likely a solid NIL payment, and a chance to play under Rick Pitino and the St. John’s Red Storm.

The Johnnies are continuing to rebuild this program, and after getting some solid transfers like Smith, they are put right back on the map when it comes to not just the Big East Conference, but the entire nation. Smith will be an immediate impact transfer and a major piece in this newly developed backcourt that features two dynamic guards. He comes in at 6’0 but he plays bigger than his size, and Pitino will get him ready for Big East play.
