Big East Basketball: Ranking the top 20 transfers for the 2024-2025 season
By John Makuch
16. Chaunce Jenkins (Seton Hall)
Seton Hall tapped into the mid-major side of the transfer portal by acquiring Chaunce Jenkins, a combo guard from Old Dominion. He may just find himself as the lead point guard for this Pirate team in his senior season, but he will have to compete with Dylan Addae-Wusu when it comes to the veterans on this team.
Jenkins has had an accomplished career and brings a ton of scoring ability to this team after putting up 15.9 points per game in the Sun Belt. He started 31 games for this Old Dominion team and led his squad in threes with 47 on the year. He is a physical guard at 6’4 who can drive through the lane and be a consistent playmaker off those drives. He also brings a great vertical and will make some acrobatic plays at the Prudential Center this season.
This Pirate team was depleted after their NIT run, but Shaheen Holloway has done a solid job of replacing that talent, and a veteran guard like Jenkins can be a big part of that. Jenkins also brings in some versatile defense and is really a player that can be plugged in and played in multiple roles with his skillset. When you are rebuilding a team from the ground up really, you need those guys who can come in and do whatever you ask of them, Jenkins is that.
The Pirates may not be up there with the best teams in the conference, but with some of the talent they have brought in through this portal, they will definitely not be an easy team to take down, especially on the road in New Jersey.
