14. Scotty Middleton (Seton Hall)

Shaheen Holloway has quietly had a pretty solid portal run so far, but this Pirates team had a lot to replace this offseason. Going out and getting Scotty Middleton though, that is how you begin to do exactly that. The soon-to-be sophomore was a touted recruit and will see plenty more minutes now that he finds himself in this Seton Hall program.

He came off the bench for the Ohio State Buckeyes last season, putting up just 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. But he showed that he can knock down the outside shot, and had seven blocks and 11 steals despite his limited playing time. Middleton is a player that needed to find himself in a place where he can get that playing time he needed to thrive. And given his 6’7 frame, this could be Holloway’s version of getting Kadary Richmond so early in his career.

As we have seen with Holloway, the connection to The Patrick School has been beneficial when it comes to his players, and Middleton had developed that relationship with him during his sophomore year. Seton Hall was the first school to reach out to Middleton, and that paid dividends when it came to getting his commitment. After losing seven players to the portal, the Pirates needed this get after that turnover.

The Pirates will be an interesting team that has had to be thrown together after some offseason chaos. But the NIT run has been a great thing to pitch to these recruits, and Holloway is phenomenal at player development. Middleton will be one of his projects, and the Pirates will look to get the most out of this young prospective talent in South Orange, New Jersey.
