Wisconsin Badgers: Can its portal pieces get up to speed in the Big Ten?

Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers faced brutal losses in the transfer portal. They lost AJ Storr to Kansas. Starting point guard Chucky Hepburn -- who posted a 3.19 assist-to-turnover ratio, the 14th-best in the country -- is off to Louisville. Sharpshooter Connor Essegian is off to Nebraska.

To subdue its high volume of losses, Greg Gard made quality additions, adding Cam Hunter (Central Arkansas), Xavier Amos (Northern Illinois) and John Tonje (Colorado State/Missouri) from the transfer portal.

The biggest storyline for the 2024-25 Badgers is getting its portal pieces up to speed in the Big Ten.

Cam Hunter missed all of last season due to an injury. The jump from the ASun to the Big Ten -- especially after missing an entire season -- can be daunting. John Tonje battled injuries all of last season at Missouri, only appearing in eight games total. Amos faced injuries during his freshman and sophomore years at Northern Illinois.
