Michigan Wolverines: Frontcourt potential

The Dusty May effect has been well-documented over the past few years. Inheriting an unpleasant situation in Ann Arbor, May convinced Nimari Burnett and Will Tschetter to return to Michigan for the 2024-25 season. Both Burnett and Tschetter will be instrumental to the Wolverines' success in year one.

From the transfer portal, May convinced FAU big man Vlad Goldin, who averaged 15.7 PPG and 6.9 RPG last season, to come with him. Convincing him to play alongside another seven-footer Danny Wolf, who averaged 14.1 PPG and 9.7 RPG at Yale, is even more impressive.

At first, it seems like an odd fit. However, it is a fit that can work and is beaming with potential. Ball screen actions -- the offensive identity at FAU -- and crashing the boards against two seven-footers? Unbeatable.

Recently, Wolf addressed the fit in the frontcourt, detailing how he has played the four this summer.

In theory, this makes the most sense because asking Goldin, who shot over 70% of his shots at the rim to play alongside Wolf -- who can shoot the three ball -- at the five would be an ill-fitting logjam.

However Dusty May wishes to work the frontcourt come November, it is the potential with this group of bigs that is the storyline entering the 2024-25 season.
