Michigan State Spartans: Sophomore breakouts
It’s year 30 of the Tom Izzo era and the storyline for the 2024-25 Spartans lies with its sophomores.
Xavier Booker and Jeremy Fears -- named among the top-10 sophomore breakout candidates entering the 2024-25 season -- expect to play expanded roles.
Fears, who was shot in the leg last December, looks ready to lead the Spartans at PG. Booker, seldom used last season, put on big-time muscle this offseason and his jumper looks much improved.
Alongside Fears and Booker, another sophomore primed to take the year-two leap is Coen Carr, the high-flying, ultra-athletic forward who showed flashes of promise last season.

Losing veterans Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard hurt, but the development of its sophomores in Fears, Booker and Carr will be the key storyline for the Spartans in 2024-25.
