16. Washington Huskies

New coach Danny Sprinkle had one main task this offseason as the new HC of Washington, land the star of his former team, Utah State. Great Osobor, who averaged 17.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg and earned Mountain West Player of the Year, was one of the highly sought-after transfers on the market. And for the reported price of 2 million dollars, the Huskies were able to land him as the focal point of the team next season.

Joining Washington in the frontcourt are returning bigs Franck Kepnang and Wilheim Breidenbach, as well as Oakland transfer forward Chris Conway and KC Ibekwe, a 6’10 big man from Oregon State. The concern here is that none of these bigs can space the floor, creating some potential offensive lineup issues.

The backcourt has some potential. DJ Davis (13.5 ppg and 2.6 apg) comes from Butler and is projected to be the go-to guard, unless incoming 5-star prospect Zoom Diallo, the projected starting point guard, is a breakout freshman star. They’ll need him to play at that level due to the lack of a true ball-handler.

Other guards include Luis Kortright (Rhode Island), Tyree Ihenacho (Wyoming), and Mekhi Mason (Rice), all double-digit scorers in the mid-major ranks and will need to have meaningful roles for the Huskies to have a shot in the Big Ten next season. This will be a good test to see whether a roster of mostly mid-major transfers can make some noise in a bigger league.
