7. Nebraska Cornhuskers

2023-24 season record: 23-11 (12-8 Big Ten)

For just the second time since 1998, Nebraska made the NCAA Tournament. It was a big year for head coach Fred Hoiberg, who got himself off the hot seat this past season. Now, he has the task of keeping the roster viable, including replacing leading scorer and star guard, Keisei Tominaga.

Several other rotation pieces have left, including Josiah Allick, CJ Wilcher, and Jamarques Lawrence. The good news is that they’re set to bring back a trio of double-digit scorers from last season, including guard Brice Williams and forwards Rienk Mast and Juwan Gary.

The Cornhuskers have also been busy in the transfer portal to fill out the rotation. Rollie Worster gives them a true point guard to run the offense, coming off averaging 9.9 ppg and 5.5 apg at Utah. Gavin Griffiths is a former top-50 prospect and transfer from Rutgers, while Connor Essegian could be due for a bounce-back campaign after limited minutes at Wisconsin.

Add Andrew Morgan (12.9 ppg and 5.0 rpg at North Dakota) to the frontcourt and there’s some real depth on Nebraska’s side. They’ll need to figure out who the go-to scorers are and whether a star will emerge or if it’ll come down to a collective effort from the entire rotation.
