12. Wisconsin Badgers

2023-24 season record: 22-14 (11-9 Big Ten)

At the start of the offseason, Wisconsin had a roster that looked to be a contender for next season. They were only set to lose Tyler Wahl due to eligibility but could’ve returned others. However, they’ve lost two key starters in point guard Chucky Hepburn and AJ Storr, who led the team with 16.8 ppg.

This leaves the Badgers with 10 players, most of whom are reserve players. Forward Steven Crowl (11.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg) is back, set to have an ever larger role in the frontcourt with Wahl gone. Nolan Winter and Carter Gilmore are set for larger roles inside as well.

Although two starters are gone, the Badgers do have a couple of key guards coming back. Max Klesmit (9.9 ppg) shot 40% from deep as a starter, while John Blackwell (8.0 ppg) was a standout freshman in the league. Look for him to become a starter and potential breakout candidate for next season.

Without landing any transfers, Wisconsin is set to take a step back. They’ll need to find more firepower in the portal or hope that Blackwell can double his production to remain a contender in the Big Ten.
