Colorado State

A fantastic 25-win season was followed up by a trip to the Big Dance two seasons ago. Colorado State would struggle with injuries and consistency last season but are looking more and more like the team from the year prior. Both offense and defense have improved and the Rams used a strong nonconference to put themselves in a desirable shape, sitting here with a NET of 27.

The big one early was a 21-point win against Creighton, part of a 9-0 start to the season. The Rams also picked up wins over Colorado and Washington that remain Quad 2 before work in the MWC. It started with a Quad 1 win over New Mexico, with the Rams picked up their third such win a few weeks later against San Diego State. They haven’t fared well away from home in conference play, but did recently avenge a loss to Boise State with a double-digit win.

The Rams are 3-4 against Quad 1 foes but 4-0 against Quad 2. The resume’s anchor is a recent road loss to Wyoming, though Colorado State has won four straight games since that defeat. A rematch at San Diego State awaits this week and begins a tough stretch that features Utah State this weekend and a road trip to New Mexico. We’ll know a lot more about this resume in two weeks’ time, though the Rams look to be in a solid position right now.
