Kansas (22-8, 10-7 in Big 12) at Houston (27-3, 14-3 in Big 12), Saturday, March 9, 4:00 PM ET, ESPN

Some weren't sure how Houston would adjust to moving from the AAC to the Big 12. With one game remaining in the regular season and the Cougars holding on to a one-game lead over everyone else, I'd say they've adjusted just fine. The Cougars are now 27-3 and enter Phogg Allen for the first time as a league foe to take on Kansas.

The Jayhawks find themselves at an unaccustomed 10-7 in Big 12 play after taking care of Kansas State on Tuesday. Kansas may be having somewhat of a down year by their standards, but nothing more would put the Big 12 on notice heading into the conference tournament than knocking off the No. 1 team in the country to end the regular season.

Houston has a No. 1 seed on lockdown at this point with a resume that backs that up. They have metrics that you barely need two hands to add together, with all five in the top two. They also have a No. 16 strength of schedule and 12 quad 1 wins, with half of those qualifying as quad 1A wins. While the Jayhawks have the No. 4 strength of schedule, their NET ranking has dipped to 16th and their predictive metrics average is just 16th which is part of the reason they have slipped down to a No. 2, and in some cases a No. 3 seed. Holding court in the finale against the No. 1 team in the country would jump them back up the list and possibly back into contention for the last No. 1 seed.
