Florida State

Realistically, the ACC will likely get several teams into the NCAA Tournament even though the league is having another down year. Florida State hasn’t gone off the rails like in recent seasons, but this Seminoles program is certainly struggling. They lost to Lipscomb and SMU at home and were 6-6 before a nice winning streak at the beginning of ACC play.

Recent home losses to Clemson and North Carolina weren’t ideal but were understandable, but last Saturday’s performance was far from that. The Seminoles had their worst defensive game of the season in a 101-92 loss at Louisville, falling to a Cardinals team that has played dreadfully in recent years. This might actually be an anchor on this resume that the Seminoles cannot overcome.

Things were trending in a decent direction just a few weeks ago, but now Florida State’s NET is 94 and they now have four Quad 3 or 4 losses. Their 2-3 mark against Quad 1 teams is better than several bubble teams, but the Seminoles clearly don’t have the metrics to even be a bubble team. They’ll need to seriously catch fire in the coming weeks to make up for this skid.
