Bracketology 2024: Gonzaga, Miami, Texas, and Virginia among week's biggest losers

It was a rough week in Bracketology for teams like Miami and Texas, suffering bad losses. And could Gonzaga be in jeopardy of missing out of the Big Dance?

It was a big week in NCAA Basketball, with a number of ranked programs falling, including most of the top-10 from the past AP top-25 poll. With all of the upsets, that meant that some teams were "Bracketology Winners" if they managed to get a singature victory.

At the same time, there were just as many programs who went the opposite direction when it comes to resume-building. A few even took some severly damaging setbacks when it comes to Bracketology. Here's a list of 10 teams that should be considered "losers" from the past week.

St. Joe's Hawks

I could make a case for several A-10 teams to be in here, including Duquesne, VCU, and St. Bonaventure. Everyone not named Dayton has fallen apart at the start of league play, already having multiple losses. But the most disappointing has been the Hawks, who had wins over Villanova and Temple in the non-con, followed by three straight losses to start league play.

Losing to Rhode Island, Saint Louis, and Loyola-Chicago just aren't good losses in general and it's officially taken the Hawks out of contention. At this point, they need to get going to have any hope of salvaging this season.

James Madison Dukes

After suffering a Quad 4 road loss to Southern Miss last week, the margin of error was all but gone for the Dukes in Sun Belt play. They then suffered a home loss to Appalachian State by a few points this weekend.

Even though it's a Quad 2 loss right now, James Madison's metrics have started to tank, now with a NET ranking in the 60's. Since they've shown they're capable of losing more Sun Belt games, it's safe to say that the conference has no shot at being a 2-bid league.
