Florida Gators

For a bubble team, Florida may have one of the smoother resumes in all of Bracketology. They don’t have a single bad loss, not even in the Quad 2 range. The problem is that they entered the week with a 1-7 record against Quad 1 opponents, which is fairly bad and proof that they can’t beat a good team.

After overtime wins over Kentucky and Georgia, the Gators lost by one point on the road at Texas A&M. But they’ve been passing the eye test and the metrics have improved. They only had one game this week but it was a big one, at home against a ranked Auburn squad.

It ended up being a blowout from start to finish, with the Gators up by 16 points at halftime. They coasted to an 81-65 victory, led by 20 points from Walter Clayton Jr. and 22 off the bench from Riley Kugel. It doubled the Quad 1 wins for Florida to 2-7 and even better metrics to help the overall resume.

The Gators have two games this week, neither against NCAA Tournament teams. But both LSU and Georgia have looked competitive in league play and are capable of upsets. A loss would be either Quad 2 or 3 so it’s important to keep the resume clean while they continue to stack wins against good teams.
