Creighton

An Elite Eight team last season, the Bluejays brought back enough major talent to perhaps make another deep postseason run, though they’ve had their share of struggles this season. There were a few slip-ups back during nonconference play, and they haven’t exactly been perfect against a strong Big East. They did, however, get their most impressive win of the season this week.

While the week did sour in the end, Creighton came through in a major way with an 85-66 home win over top-ranked Connecticut back on Wednesday night. They avenged a January loss to the Huskies and picked up another Quad 1 victory, their third in the last two weeks and their sixth of the season. Unfortunately, they did lose 80-66 at St. John’s on Sunday afternoon, but that misstep doesn’t dull that impressive win.

What this means for Creighton is probably unclear. They’ve dropped a few other games in Big East play, so losing to St. John’s shouldn’t cost them too much. We’re more interested in how this win over the Huskies could propel them, perhaps securing them a Top 4 seed in the Big Dance when all is said and done. They just have to keep winning, and they have a few intriguing home matchups next week against Seton Hall and Marquette.
