Providence Friars

After losing on the road at Butler last weekend, the Friars needed to have a 2-0 week or else they would be on the wrong side of the bubble. They had a home bubble battle with St. John’s, which went down to the wire. Providence got the 75-72 victory, led by 28 points from Josh Oduro. They followed it up with an 11-point win over DePaul, though it could’ve been via a bigger margin to help out the metrics.

Providence is 7-9 against Quad 1 and 2 foes and is 10-0 versus Quad 4 teams (0-0 vs Quad 3). They have a tough schedule down the stretch, including against No. 1 UConn at the end of the regular season. This upcoming week will be huge for them, taking on Xavier and Marquette on the road. A split will be needed to avoid sliding down the bubble.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Raiders are perfectly fine when it comes to making the Big Dance but after losing 3 of 4 games heading into the week, there was a question as to whether they could slide to the 8-9 seed range. They split last week’s games but got the best win possible, beating Kansas 79-50 at home.

Not only is that a massive resume booster but Texas Tech’s metrics took a nice jump as well. They’re a combined 5-7 against Quad 1/2 foes with no bad losses, having victories over Kansas, Oklahoma, and BYU. They have a fairly easy schedule the rest of the way so there’s a chance to rack up some wins, with TCU and UCF up next.
