Kentucky Wildcats

After losing at home to Gonzaga last week, Kentucky had lost 4 of 6 games and had the kind of resume that was closer to the 8-9 seed range than for a 4-5. But they bounced back nicely, starting with a 12-point victory at home over Ole Miss. Then, the Wildcats got one of the more impressive wins of the season, beating Auburn on the road, 70-59, behind 22 points from Antonio Reeves.

Kentucky looks to keep the momentum going this week with a big home battle against Alabama on the weekend, along with a potential trap game, on the road at an LSU squad that just upset South Carolina a few days ago.

New Mexico Lobos

For the past three weeks, the Lobos have split their games, going 3-3. This past week though, it was an acceptable outcome, considering the opponents and location. They did lose on Friday to San Diego State but got the big win earlier in the week, beating Nevada, 83-82. It’s the biggest win away from home on the season and a needed Quad 1 victory to get the resume out of the bubble range.

New Mexico has two more key road games at Boise State and Utah State so to avoid those being “must-win” games, they’ll need to get a home sweep this week. Up first is Colorado State, a Quad 1 opportunity at home. Get that win and the Lobos should be fine on Selection Sunday.
