North Carolina Tar Heels

After beating Oklahoma and Charleston Southern to end the non-conference campaign, UNC had a pair of true road games to open ACC play. The first was against Pittsburgh, a team that swept them last season en route to not only making the NCAA Tournament for themselves but also pushing the Heels out in the process.

Despite missing their first 10 shots of the game, North Carolina was able to exact some revenge on the Panthers, winning 70-57. Armando Bacot had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while RJ Davis had 15 points. Harrison Ingram shot just 2/14 from the field but did bring down 15 rebounds since Pitt was missing everything.

The next matchup also was on the road, taking on a Clemson squad that’s been highly impressive so far this season. Like with Pittsburgh, the Tar Heels were in a defensive struggle, coming down to the final minutes. But thanks to allowing just two total points in the final six minutes, UNC pulled off the 65-55 win. Davis and Bacot each had 14 points to lead the way.

These two two more Quad 1 victories pair with Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee non-con wins. Compared to a year ago, the Tar Heels won’t even have to worry about the bubble.
They have one more road game to deal with next, taking on NC State on Wednesday.
