Bracketology 2024: South Carolina, Butler, and Nebraska among week's biggest winners

Nebraska
Basketball hasn’t been a successful venture at Nebraska, though Fred Hoiberg is hoping to change that in the years ahead. This year’s version of the Cornhuskers looks potent, especially with wins over Michigan State and Purdue in the early stretch of Big Ten play. There wasn’t a lot to love about the nonconference schedule, and they’ve had some really dreadful performances on the road in recent weeks, but the Cornhuskers got yet another key win this week.
Despite digging a 19-point hole early, the Cornhuskers came all the way back to beat Wisconsin back on Thursday night. They clung to an 80-72 overtime victory against the Badgers, giving them a third Quad 1 victory on the season, including the aforementioned conference home wins. In fact, the Cornhuskers have won every Big Ten game they’ve played at home to this point.
Unfortunately, Nebraska has lost every road game in conference play and their NET is sitting at just 57. They stand 6-6 against Quad 1 and 2 competition but will need to start winning road games if they want to reach the Big Dance. Wins over Purdue and Wisconsin are clearly very impressive but may not be enough if they keep falling away from home to the weaker teams in this league. With back-to-back road games upcoming, here’s a chance for the Cornhuskers to be winners again.
