Boise State Broncos
The Mountain West has gotten a ton of credit for the top half being in a position of an at-large bid. Of that group, Boise State had the resume of the 6th team, meaning that they needed some big wins to start to be in position. They not only got two Mountain West wins to move to 3-0 but also beat two of the other key five teams.
The first win was at home against Colorado State, 65-58, led by 17 points from O’Mar Stanley. With how good a team the Rams are, that’s currently a Quad 1 victory and guaranteed to be in the Quad 2 range when it’s all said and done.
On Friday, the Broncos went on the road and got another Quad 1 victory, beating Nevada, 64-56. Tyson Dagenhart had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead all scorers. The Wolf Pack may have had a rough week but that’s still a big win for Boise State, who is now 5-4 against Quad 1/2 opponents and still without a bad loss.
The Broncos are back at home in the next week, taking on UNLV and San Diego State. As long as they avoid losing to the Rebels to avoid that Quad 3 setback, they’ll be just fine.
