Seton Hall Pirates

The Pirates opened Big East play with a brutal stretch of games, with two top-10 home battles, along with four others coming on the road. Odds-wise, there was a real chance they’d lose all six of them. But after losing to UConn to open league play, they managed to finish a set of road trips with a 3-1 record to be at 4-1 in league play.

The first game this week was at Georgetown, a bad but capable team that would’ve been a Quad 4 defeat had they lost. It got tight in the second half but the Pirates managed to get the 74-70 win, led by 25 points from Al-Amir Dawes and a near 20-point triple-double from Kadary Richmond.

The other road win was just as big, beating Butler, 78-72. Richmond had another big game with 24 points and 12 rebounds to give the Pirates another victory on the road. They now have a 4-2 record against Quad 1 victories, one of just a few teams that can say that. They need the NET ranking to get better though, currently around 70.

Seton Hall is back at home for the next two games, taking on St. John’s and Creighton. A split would be ideal but for a team still on the bubble, they’ll need to take care of business at their place.
