Wisconsin Badgers

Not too long ago, Wisconsin was in first place in the Big Ten standings. Yet between Purdue and three road games, things have gone wrong in the worst of ways. They had lost two straight heading into the week, before taking on Michigan.

The Wolverines were last in the Big Ten but because they were at home, leading scorer Dug McDaniel was able to play. That didn’t matter for previous opponents of Michigan, who had been in a big losing rut. Still, the Badgers managed to lose, 72-68.

Wisconsin then followed it up with another road loss, losing 78-56 to Rutgers. Both of these are Quad 2 defeats so it doesn’t hurt their resume too much but still, the Badgers are likely to fall out of the top-4 seed lines after these past two weeks.

The hope is that freshman guard John Blackwell can return this week, currently “questionable” for the looming home game with Iowa. They have very winnable games in the next couple of weeks but need to hold serve before the final chances to improve their resume in March against Illinois and Purdue.
