Miami Hurricanes

Miami was a preseason top-25 team that hasn’t looked up to par throughout the season. They had a pair of chances this past week to move the needle and get a signature win. The first was against Virginia, who had been surging as of late.

What happened next was an absolute disaster for the Hurricanes, losing 60-38 on the road. It wasn’t a bad loss since it was a Quad 1 defeat. The problem is that from a metrics perspective, it was devastating, especially with the efficiency stuff.

They had a shot this weekend to beat North Carolina at home and in a game of runs, Miami had a shot at its biggest win of the season. Unfortunately, the Hurricanes ran out of time, falling 75-72. Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier each had 20 points, while Matthew Cleveland produced a double-double. This leaves them still with a 2-5 record against Quad 1 opponents while having a Quad 3 and 4 setback on the overall resume.

Miami will be back on the road this week, taking on Clemson and Boston College. The Tigers are nearly safely in the field while needing to avoid another Quad 2 loss with the Eagles this weekend.
