Fourth of July is over and summer workouts have started for most of the teams in the country. That means that the season is getting closer. It has been an eventful offseason, especially with the sheer amount of players in the transfer portal and the ever changing NIL view. It was honestly hard to follow all of the moves that occurred. Now that the rosters are set its time to bring back the mid major player spotlight articles.

This week takes us to the America East by way of Smithfield, Rhode Island to Bryant University. The Bulldogs have been on a steady trend upward over the last five seasons and all of that can be attributed to the recruiting prowess of former coach Jared Grasso. Coach Grasso was able to build the Bryant team to a premier team in the Northeast Conference before seeing the Bulldogs head to the America East Conference. Bryant has not seen the same success in their short time in the America East but those days seem to be changing.

Bryant enters a new era under Phil Martelli Jr who has a team who can compete for an NCAA tournament appearance. The spotlight this week is going to focus on star player Earl Timberlake who decided that he would come back to Smithfield for his last season of eligibility to try and get Bryant to their second NCAA tournament appearance in school history this season. The league is going to be crowded at the top but the Bulldogs star is the favorite to win the league player of the year and is going to have a say in who wins the league.
