Butler Basketball: Bulldogs' 2025 recruiting class is already turning heads
By Jack Gutzler
Despite the class of 2025 recruiting cycle being in its early stages, Butler has already landed several significant commitments from the class of 2025 and may have more following soon. Their early success on the recruiting trail has their class of 2025 presently ranked as the highest rated class in the Big East and a top 5 recruiting class overall. And should the Bulldogs in fact bring in one or two more commitments, the class of 2025 could rank as their highest rated recruiting class of all-time.
So far, Butler has landed three four star recruits in guard Azavier "Stink" Robinson and forwards Jack McCaffery and Colt Langdon, with the latter of the three set to reclass and join the Bulldogs this year. Standing at 6'8, McCaffery will bring plenty of size and physicality to the Bulldogs frontcourt while also being able to shoot from beyond the arc. Expect him to be an immediate impact player once he joins the Bulldogs. When McCaffery committed to Butler early last week, he was rated by 247sports as Butler's highest rated recruit of all-time.
However, he would only hold that title for a brief period, as Indianapolis native Azavier Robinson announced his commitment to Butler on Saturday and subsequently surpassed McCaffery as Butler's highest rated recruit. Robinson is an explosive guard who can play a physical brand of basketball, and will make an immediate with the Bulldogs upon his arrival in the fall of 2025. Robinson is rated as a top 100 recruit in the class of 2025, while McCaffery is rated as a top 150 recruit, emphasizing the strength of the Bulldogs recruiting class thus far.
Langdon, on the other hand, is set to join Butler this season, and looks to have plenty of momentum as the new season approaches. Langdon is coming off a fantastic junior season at Millbrook HS in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina that saw him average over 25 points per game. Additionally, he broke the school's record for most points all-time, despite only playing three seasons. While Langdon will likely redshirt this season, the possibility remains that he could see some form of a role off the bench as he transitions to the next level. But come 2025-26, Langdon could be a key scorer for Butler, especially if his redshirt year does in fact help him make a smoother transition to college basketball.
On the recruiting front, Butler remains in contention for several other four star recruits, including forward Dezmon Briscoe, guard Chris Jeffrey, along with several other solid three star recruits. Should Butler land another four star recruit, it should be enough to not only make the class of 2025 Butler's highest ranked recruiting class of all-time, but secure a top 25 overall recruiting class once all the dust settles.
Nonetheless, there's already a lot for Butler fans to be excited about in the coming, and don't be surprised to see Butler's recruiting momentum helps them bring in high level transfers down the line.
