The bracket is finalized and the Dukes are not only in the tournament, but they earned a No. 12 seed.

Moments after the Wisconsin Badgers lost in the Big Ten Tournament championship game, they got the news that they would be facing the James Madison Dukes.

The Dukes earned their first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament this year after defeating Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. JMU has been a sneakily good team all season long and the Badgers didn’t look too thrilled to have the Dueks in their future.

Meanwhile, JMU’s squad along with dozens of fans looked undeniably ecstatic for their 12-seed bid in the tournament.

Fans across the nation celebrated the Dukes’ accomplishments from the past few days, their ticket to the big dance just being the cherry on top.

This will be JMU’s sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the program’s first bid in 11 years. In 2013, the Dukes were dismantled in the Second Round by the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers.

JMU finished their 2023 regular season with a 28-3 overall record. The Dukes then won three straight to claim the Sun Belt Conference title; defeating Marshall, Texas State, and Arkansas State along the way.

James Madison is looking to live out its previous squashed Cinderella Story dreams. First, they have to take down Wisconsin.

The Dukes and the Badgers will face each other in Brooklyn as a part of the South Region. The game is set for Friday, March 22, and will be available on CBS.
