Fans thank DJ Burns for memorable March Madness run
NC State has officially turned back into the pumpkin patch as the clock struck 12 on their magical Cinderella run. The Wolfpack fell to Purdue in their Final Four matchup 63-50 continuing the 11-seed curse in the Final Four. Whether you thought they were a Cinderella story or just another blue-blood 11-seed making a good run, this team was fun to watch.
This team brought everyone in March Madness joy when they first beat Duke in the ACC Tournament because let; 's face it, when Duke loses everyone wins. But in all seriousness, the Wolfpack were a joy to watch this March and one player that brought a smile to everyone's face was big man DJ Burns.
Burns impressed everyone with his big stature and ability to get to the basket but then used amazing footwork like a ballerina to finish plays. With NC State being eliminated, that means fans have to say farewell to Burns and they did it in the best way on social media.
So long partner indeed. Thank you Burns for making fans smile as you danced waiting for free throws. Thank you for memorable post-game interviews and for being someone everyone could love.
This was a memorable team for sure. Both DJs were elite when their teams needed them most. They were a lovable team, especially from a state where most people love to hate basketball teams. This team is and will always be legendary and will be revisited with many other legendary teams for many years to come.
First, it was five wins in five days to get them the ACC Tournament title and a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Then it was dominance in the tournament doing things no one thought was possible. A nine-game winning streak is impressive this late time of the year.
A run that will be remembered for years to come!
Raise your hand if you smiled at least once watching DJ Burns play this year. There are probably a lot of hands raised right now.
Thank you NC State for bringing us joy throughout March and into April. The run the Wolfpack had will be remembered forever, but unfortunately ends just short of the National Championship. They were a team anyone could root for, especially when their own team was out.
