Jayden Taylor: "Now, when its win or go home, we are showing teams we can do it"
College basketball fans everywhere are happy as can be, well except for Duke fans because the Blue Devils were upset by 10-seed NC State in Duke's first game of the ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack was able to hold on to a halftime lead to survive and advance to the semifinals.
"We're coming, the world is seeing now that we are a better team than we showed in our conference season," NC State guard Jayden Taylor said. "We left a lot of close games get away, so now when it's win or go home, all the marbles out, we are showing teams we can do it."
NC State has now played three games in three days and is about the play their fourth in four against three-seed Virginia. Taylor spoke about how all the doubt from everyone is what fuels this team, even the doubt from Duke. When asked if he felt like Duke overlooked this team, he had the best answer.
"They probably did, it didn't work out for them though. They should have done that," Taylor said.
Taylor talked about how the team game-planned for Duke center Kyle Filipowski, but the sophomore out of New York was still able to score 28 points and grab 14 rebounds in the game. Luckily, NC State has five guys scoring in double digits to balance out Filipowski's big game.
As mentioned earlier, the Wolfpack will again have a quick turnaround as they get ready to take on Virginia in the semifinals. You have to imagine the Wolfpack is feeling the effects of the three games in three days, but Taylor says otherwise.
"Phenomenal, I would rather be here then go home," Taylor said.
Well, it is going to be a tough one, but with the belief and grit this team has, it is not impossible. If NC State can win this game and advance to the championship, they have a real shot at getting the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
