On April 2nd, the Jayhawks secured another player from the college's version of free agency—the transfer portal. The rising senior, Zeke Mayo, the leading scorer, will be on Kansas's roster next season.

Mayo tallied 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game, as well as 47 percent shooting and 39 percent from the three-point mark. He marks his second season in a row, averaging at least 18 points. This is a major leap from his freshman year, where he only mustered 10 points a game—not bad by any means nonetheless.

Mayo's South Dakota State squad finished the season at 22-13 and 12-4 in the conference, atop the standings and making it to the big dance, resulting in a loss to No. 2-seeded Iowa State by a final score of 82-65.

Coach Self is getting a scorer who can drive and step out for a three-point shot on his own accord. Mayo can reach into his bag of moves and dance his defender for separation, granting him enough time to let it fly beyond the arc. Furthermore, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard also has the range to launch his shots way behind the three-point line.

To provide more context for his scoring prowess, Mayo put up 35 points against North Dakota State, along with six rebounds and two assists.

Kansas continues its search to bulk up its roster and most definitely did just that with this addition.

Interestingly enough, Mayo is from Lawrence, Kansas. It is a great story to tell and surely provides the opportunity for his friends and loved ones to come out and watch him play on such a big stage in a Jayhawk uniform.
