All-Time History

  • Oklahoma has won the last three matchups
  • Kansas State is 18-17 when playing Oklahoma at home

Kansas state favored in matchup

The Wildcats are favored by 17.5 points and the over/under is set at 145.5. This is a very favorable line for Kansas State as Vegas predicts a large margin of victory.

With a 15-1 record on the season, The Wildcats are proven winners, especially after an impressive win over Caitlyn Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes early in the season. Their only loss also happened to come from the Hawkeyes in thier second meeting.

In my opinion I would definitely would take Kansas State in this matchup. I am also going to take under on this matchup, I think the Wildcats stout defense will hold the sooner offense, but the Sooners know they are playing a Goliath in the conference and will step up the defenisive play.

Important matchups

Tonight will be a matchup between a solid offense and a suffocating defense. The Wildcats rank first in defense in the Big 12 Conference while the Sooners rank last. Oklahoma comes in ranked fourth in offense in the Big 12 while Kansas State is in the middle of pack coming in at seventh.

Senior center Ayoka Lee ranks third in scoring, second in field goal percentage (.679), third in blocks (40), and seventh in rebounding (8.2). Lee is coming off a season high seven blocks in her game against UCF on Saturday.

Defense will be key in this matchup as the Wildcats have held opponents under 60 points in all but two games this season. This dominant defense also ranked fifth in the nation in scoring (50.9 ppg) and are third in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.318) according to NCAA statistics.

History in the making

The Wildcats are hoping to have a celebration in tonight's game as Lee is just 23 points away from reaching 2,000 career points. This milestone would make her the second active NCAA Division I basketball player with 2,000 or more career points and 1,000 or more career rebounds. When she makes history, she will be the only active Big 12 player in the 2K/1K club.

Lee is also making history in the locker room with her seventh career Big 12 Player of the Week honors for her performances against Houston and UCF. This ties the school record for career honors, and the Wildcats have only just started conference play.

Prediction

I believe this will be a close game back and fourth, but the Wildcats dominant defense will win out in the end. I think the Sooners will come out hot trying to go big with three pointers, but the cats dominant three point defense will hold strong. I believe Oklahoma will have to resort to fouling in the last minute and a half to try and close the gap, but ultimately will not be able to.

I do predict that Lee will have a historic night and will reach the 2K/1K club, cementing herself in Kansas State women's basketball history.
