Dan Hurley

A lot of coaches will decline this position, yes even though it’s Kentucky. Coaching a Blue Blood is a once in a lifetime opportunity for some people, but is it always the best situation. You can bet that Kentucky will at least do their due diligence with Hurley… but would he actually entertain a move to Lexington?

Hurley played point guard at Seton Hall and built his career coaching high school ball in New Jersey. His collegiate head coaching career involved decent times at Wagner and a couple of NCAA Tournament wins at Rhode Island. He was named the head coach at Connecticut in 2018 and has resurrected the Huskies program, leading them to the national championship in his fifth season, with this year’s team looking like a favorite to repeat as champions.

These last few seasons have been insane in Storrs and Hurley’s team could very well repeat as national champions two weeks from now. Leaving right now would be pretty wild, especially with a great deal and an amazing program at Connecticut. It’ll behoove the Wildcats to try to swing for the fences with names like this, but there’s not even any kind of connection between Hurley and Kentucky or the SEC.
