Like with many teams, Miami Basketball has a ton of seniors on its current roster, eight to be exact. So there's going to be a need for the team to have a sizeable 2025 recruiting class to rebuild its talent pool. That's also because they could be losing a lot of guards a year from now.

The Hurricanes' projected rotation of guards includes Nijel Pack, as well as transfer guards, Jalen Blackmon and AJ Staton-McCray. There's also Jalil Bethea, an incoming five-star guard prospect who could be a "one and done" player to the NBA if things go well.

One of the targets for Miami from the high school ranks was Matt Able, a consensus four-star shooting guard prospect. He's a 6'5 big guard from the state of Florida, capable of scoring in multiple ways, and has a good shot. His size and ability to defend gives Able a good chance at succeeding at the college level.

Miami was one of eight teams in the mix to land him, with Xavier, BC, Northwestern, Baylor, Michigan, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. As the "local" option, the Hurricanes had a potential edge and after Friday, they were able to win his services. Havin Able alongside incoming freshmen Austin Swartz and Isaiah Johnson-Arigu gives the ACC team a good core of young players to build off of.

Things could get better for Miami Basketball in the coming weeks as well. They're viewed as a top-tier contender for the Boozer brothers, Cam and Cayden. Both are five-star prospects and would be massive pickups for the program, especially if they were able to beat out fellow ACC program, Duke, in the process.

Time will tell if the pickup of Able is the start of a big recruiting run for the program after an already good incoming 2024 class.
