Michigan Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Wolverines

Key Reserves
Will Tschetter, Forward
One of the holdovers from last year's team, junior Will Tschetter was a regular rotation player for Michigan in his first two years with the team, and last year saw him average 6.8 ppg and 2.4 rpg while shooting an impressive 58.2% from the field along with a 51.9% mark from beyond the arc. With Tschetter's versatility, he will look to assume a larger role in the Wolverines' rotation this year.
Nimari Burnett, Guard
Nimari Burnett's senior year will mark his second season with the Wolverines after playing his first two seasons at Texas Tech and Alabama, respectively. Last year saw Burnett average 9.6 ppg, 2.4 apg, and 4.1 rpg in a starting role with the Wolverines. With the influx of new faces coupled with the arrival of Dusty May, it is unclear if Burnett will retain his starting role with Michigan this year. If he does come off the bench, he will remain a key player who would be one of the leaders of the second unit and could see his role increase as the year goes on.
Sam Walters, Forward
Sophomore Sam Walters joins Michigan after a freshman year at Alabama where he averaged 5.4 ppg and 2.4 rpg on a Crimson Tide team that reached the Final Four. Walters is a very skilled shooter who shot 39.4% from beyond the arc as a freshman last season, and he will bring crucial 3 point shooting to Michigan and could improve that mark further this year.
Justin Pippen, Guard
Justin Pippen, son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, is one of Michigan's highly coveted class of 2024 recruits. Pippen has been rated as a four-star recruit and is generally ranked well within the top 100 recruits of the class of 2024, after averaging 16.5 ppg, 4.9 apg, and 4.5 rpg in his senior year last season at Sierra Canyon (CA). Pippen should have a role in the Wolverines' rotation this season and could prove to be a big piece for this Michigan team in the coming years.
