8. Romeo Langford – Boston Celtics (2019: Pick 14)

The Boston Celtics just won the NBA title but Langford was not on that team and certainly remains an underwhelming pick. A McDonald’s All-American, Langford was also brilliant as a freshman at Indiana before bolting for the NBA after just a single year with the Hoosiers. The Indiana native showed great promise in that lone collegiate season but hasn’t lived up to that in the pros.

Boston’s first pick in 2019 was that 14th pick they used to select Langford and it’s a selection that didn’t work out in the end. Coming one selection after Tyler Herro, Langford didn’t accomplish much in parts of three seasons with the Celtics, averaging just 3.6 points per game with underwhelming 3-point shooting numbers.

One bright spot for the Celtics is that Langford was one of the players traded to the San Antonio Spurs for Derrick White, one of the key players in this recent title run. Unfortunately for Langford, he wouldn’t find much success in San Antonio either, fizzling out after a season and a half with the Spurs. He’d actually get a bit more run in that year with the Spurs, but spent this past season in the G-League and his best days might already be behind him.
