In the “transfer portal” era, it’s been harder than ever for true freshmen outside of 5-stars to get into the rotation and have a big impact. One of the exceptions from last season was Carlton “Bub” Carrington, who in some rankings was barely even a top-100 prospect out of high school. He committed to a Pittsburgh team that lost several guards, creating a chance to showcase his skillset.

Carrington had the greatest debut in Pitt history to open the season, producing an 18-point, 12-rebound, and 10-assist triple-double against North Carolina A&T. It was a strong start for the freshman starter, who went on to average 13.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, and 4.1 apg on the season overall. That includes 24 points in a win over Wake Forest, along with 27 in a road win over Boston College.

After the season, Carrington decided to enter the NBA Draft. There are a few things that go in his favor. He’s a natural athlete who can create his own shot, while also being one of the youngest players in the draft at just 18 years old, meaning that his ceiling could be one of the highest in the entire draft.

With the recent news that he’s getting an invite to be part of the green room on Wednesday, it’s safe to say that Carrington will be picked in the first round, who would be the first Panther since Steven Adams at 12 in 2013 (Cameron Johnson finished his career at UNC). There are plenty of teams that could use him but which NBA franchises would make the best possible fit?

Here’s a list of four teams to watch.
