NBA Draft 2024: Top 3 options for Brooklyn Nets to consider targeting
G Cam Spencer, UConn
Okay, so Cam Spencer is older than either Kolek or Pullin, so again, the ceiling is limited. After watching what he did this year with the semi-local UConn Huskies, however, Nets fans should be eager to get such a fiery shooter in the fold.
Last year, the Rutgers transfer averaged 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He was exceptionally efficient. Spencer hit 44 percent of his threes and more than 91 percent of his free throws.
Spencer's shooting efficiency is his unquestioned calling card. His efficiency would be reminiscent of that of Joe Harris, who dominated from behind the arc as a member of the Nets organization for several years.
Beyond that, however, Spencer has a relentless hustle. He can cut to the rim and position himself exactly where he needs to be beyond the arc at a moment's notice.
He probably wouldn't be much more than a role player at the professional level, but one can look at UConn's second title in two seasons to see how great Spencer is at filling that role.
Spencer is 24 years old, so there's almost no chance he'd be a first-round draft pick. But he'd be an intriguing pickup in the middle of the second round - if the Nets can trade themselves into that position.
