NBA Draft: Who should the Washington Wizards select with No. 2 overall pick?
The Washington Wizards hold the No. 2 pick in this year's NBA Draft. Fortunately, for Coach Keefe and staff, there are a ton of options for the front office to choose from heading into next season. Names ranging from Bronny James, Zach Edey. Donovan Clinigan, Reed Sheppard, Matas Buzelis and more.
Coming off a poorly performed season that resulted in only 15 wins, there's tons of room for improvement, and the only way to go is up from here.
Picking right behind the Atlanta Hawks, who will more than likely select Zaccharie Risacher, leaves the next best projected prospect, Alex Sarr. Just like last year's No. 1 overall pick, Victor Wembanyama, his ethnicity stems from France, specifically Bordeaux.
Interestingly enough, the 19-year-old stands at seven feet in addition to his 7-4.25 wingspan. It's surreal the kind of talent France has been producing over the years, from Spurs great Tony Parker to Wembanyama and now Sarr.
France has the talent!
What does Alex Sarr bring to the table?
In comparison to Wembanyama, Sarr plays pretty similar to a guard despite being so tall and lengthy. The modern era of positionless basketball is thriving more than ever, making the NBA what it is today.
Back-to-the-basket bigs are hard to find these days, but a three-point shooting center can be found in a blink of an eye.
SB Nation's Gabriel Ibrahim goes in-depth about Sarr's prospect profile saying, "he's most comfortable around the paint on both ends."
"Sarr’s best attribute is his physical profile right now. He’s a 7-footer with enough grace to attack from the perimeter, run the floor, confidently shoot jumpers, and even bring the ball up. He’s most comfortable around the paint on both ends right now and the Perth Wildcat try to place him near the basket as much as possible. He can hang in the air and use his extend-o-arms to block shots from bizarre angles while avoiding contact. He has also shown flashes of defending on the perimeter and switching ball screens."
This guy will be a huge boost for the Wizards, being young, fresh and hungry to reach the next level.
Now, it's up to General Manager Will Dawkins to make the move to try to get the Washington Wizards back to being competitive in the Eastern Conference.
