Kentucky’s defensive woes

The high-ceiling Kentucky Wildcats have fallen outside of the top 100 in adjusted defensive efficiency, according to KenPom, after their 103-92 loss to Tennessee at home.

Not good.

In short, losing to Tennessee is not a bad loss by any means. Tennessee is a legit Final Four/national championship threat.

Despite that, losing at home for the second straight game and giving up 103 points in regulation is where the alarm bells ring.

Rob Dillingham was exceptional for the Wildcats last night, tallying a 35-point effort in the loss but the overarching question for the young Wildcats remains: can they effectively and efficiently defend for 40 minutes straight?

Because it's already February, the defensive woes will remain the Wildcat’s Achilles Heel unless John Calipari can pull a rabbit out of the hat in the final months.
