Villanova Wildcats

There have been some good and bad news this offseason for the Wildcats but they were able to bring back star big man Eric Dixon for one more year. But even with him, there’s little frontcourt depth, despite adding Fresno State center transfer, Enoch Boakye. Those are the only veterans on the frontcourt right now and with a backcourt filled with transfers, there’s a lot of questions outside of Dixon.

Hawkins could pair with Dixon to become one of the better starting frontcourts in NCAA Basketball and good enough to get them back in the NCAA Tournament mix. Even after landing Miami transfer Wooga Poplar, they likely need one more, preferably in the frontcourt, to push ahead.

West Virginia Mountaineers

The Mountaineers could be an interesting option due to the connection with former Illinois assistant Chester Frazier, who is now at WVU. The program landed two former teammates of Hawkins this offseason in Sencire Harris and big man Amani Hansberry.

Although West Virginia landed several wings and guards, the frontcourt looks light on paper, with just Hansberry and Eduardo Andre as players who can play the 5-spot. Unless they’re planning on using a bunch of small lineups, adding Hawkins could be what’s needed for the Mountaineers to bounce back into Big 12 contention.
