2. Cal Bears

It was an offseason of lots of changes for Cal, knowing it had to replace all of its seniors, as well as star wing and leading scorer, Jaylon Tyson. With the program moving to the ACC, they needed to land a lot of transfers to have any hope of being successful.

The Bears added 10 players from the portal. If we were analyzing them individually, only one would be in the mix for a top-100 ranking in Andrej Stojakovic, a freshman transfer from Stanford and a former 5-star prospect. The other underclassman transfer with promise is Joshua Ola-Joseph, who comes from Minnesota after starting as a sophomore.

BJ Omot is the highest-scoring transfer, a 6’8 forward from North Dakota who averaged 16.7 ppg. Rytis Petraitis, Jovan Blacksher J., DJ Campbell, and Christian Tucker are all double-digit scoring guards from the mid-major ranks who give the team depth.

With Mady Sissoko (Michigan State) and Lee Dort (Vanderbilt) having power conference experience at the center position, Cal will have depth throughout every rotation. They’ll need to find a couple to become All-ACC caliber in order to be competitive but don’t be surprised if they end up being out of the bottom in league play next season.
