3. Dayton Flyers

The Flyers have been one of the top teams in the A-10 for the past few years, thanks to DaRon Holmes. The star big man averaged over 20 ppg this past season, earning Co-Conference Player of the Year honors and leading Dayton to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Holmes opted to leave for the NBA Draft, a huge blow for the program. Plus, they suffered a couple of losses to the portal in guards Kobe Elvis and Koby Brea, two sharpshooters and double-digit scorers. But they landed a three-man group that should keep them viable in the league.

Posh Alexander comes over from Butler. The 6’0 guard has 109 starts in four years between Butler and St. John’s, with a career average of 11.6 ppg and 4.7 apg. He’s also a stout defender, earning a past Big East Defensive Player of the Year.Award. Alexander could very well become a top guard in the A-10, playing next to the recovering Malachi Smith.

Zed Key is a past starter at Ohio State and could also thrive moving down a level as the next starting center. Add 6’8 forward Jacob Conner adds to the frontcourt depth as well. It’s only three transfers but they could be enough to keep them as a contender in the A-10.
