NCAA Basketball: 10 teams with under-the-radar solid 2024 offseason transfer classes
4. LMU Lions
In the WCC, the Gonzaga Bulldogs were one of the biggest winners in all of NCAA Basketball when it comes to the transfer portal, landing key pieces such as Khalif Battle and Michael Ajayi. However, they weren’t the only WCC program to land a former star from Pepperdine, as the Lions also got a premier big man.
Jevon Porter is the younger brother of NBA forward Michael Porter and is coming off averaging 16.2 ppg and 5.9 rpg last season at Pepperdine on 43% shooting. He followed former HC Lorenzo Romar over to LMU, giving the team a big to replace the likes of Lars Thiemann and Keli Leaupepe in the frontcourt. Another big joining the team is Matar Diop, a 6’10 forward from Nebraksa looking for more playing time.
The Lions also added some notable pieces on the perimeter. Caleb Stone-Carrawell a 6’7 double-digit scoring wing from Utah Valley, while Myron Amey Jr. averaged nearly 16 ppg at San Jose State and could be a top-tier guard in the WCC next season.
The big lottery ticket is Jan Vide, a former four-star prospect who struggled as a freshman at UCLA. If he becomes a breakout player at his new stop combined with the already proven talent on the roster, the Lions could be a darkhorse threat to finish second in the conference.
