Duquesne Dukes

Yes, the 20-year relationship that LeBron has had with now-former Duquesne HC Keith Dambrot would’ve made the A-10 team potentially viable. But with no recent history of winning and usually being in the bottom half of the league, it was hard to see them being an option. But the past month has changed everything for the program, as they won the conference tournament to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 50+ years.

Now, assistant Dru Joyce has taken over the program, a close friend and former HS teammate of LeBron James, who has been very excited about him getting the job. Here, Bronny would play at a level he could thrive in, playing for a coach he and his father is very familiar with. Plus, even though Pittsburgh is on the other side of the country, LeBron can still keep close tabs on his son’s development.

Ohio State Buckeyes

In the first recruitment, Ohio State was another finalist. The family’s Akron ties and his connection to the university over the years almost don’t matter who the HC is. The program replaced Chris Holtmann with Jake Diebler, who went 8-3 with the Buckeyes as the interim HC midway through the season.

Ohio State checks a lot of boxes for the James family but will LeBron trust a first-year HC? The same could be said for Joyce at Duquesne but there’s at least 20 years of history with them. That could be the one obstacle for the Buckeyes, as well that the backcourt of Bruce Thornton and SC transfer Meechie Johnson is going to start, meaning that Bronny will have to come off the bench.
