Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide has typically one of the best offenses in NCAA Basketball but in the Nate Oats era, the defense has been hit-or-miss. Part of it has been the lack of an interior defender that can handle things inside. Having the No. 1 scoring offense is great but with a lackluster defense, the odds of them winning a national title are currently low.

They have a trio of big men on the roster that could take a covid 5th year in Grant Nelson, Mohamed Wague, and Nick Pringle. There’s a decent chance that at least one of them leaves to open room for Omoruyi. They don’t need any offense from the five-spot, just defense and rebounding at a high level, which would make him a great fit.

Auburn Tigers

Auburn is the opposite of Alabama this past season in that its defense, led by the frontcourt duo of Jaylin Williams and Johni Broome, was the biggest role. Williams has no eligibility left, while Broome does have a covid year available, though he was reportedly close to going pro a year ago and very well could do that again.

If Broome does go to the NBA, that leaves the Tigers with just Dylan Cardwell inside. He’s a solid player but look for Coach Bruce Pearl to want to find someone that can play at a high level in the SEC. Omoruyi would be a nice one-year option for Auburn to replace Broome.
