Syracuse Orange
Although they’re far from Rutgers, Syracuse is still a regional option if the big man wants to stay close to home. This team also desperately needs a center that can play big minutes. Last season, the Orange started Naheem McLeod but he’s limited, with Mounir Hima barely getting backup minutes.
The fact that Maliq Brown got a good amount of minutes at the five-spot was why Syracuse was below average on defense. Adding Omoruyi would be a big boost on that end and pairing him with veteran guards JJ Starling and Judah Mintz would make the Orange a contender in the ACC next season.
Villanova Wildcats
After a disappointing past season, Villanova could be losing several key pieces. That may include starting forward Eric Dixon, who played mostly at the five-spot. That’s an undersized big man and that hurt them since Kentucky transfer Lance Ware never got into the main rotation.
The Wildcats would be another local option for Omoruyi if he wanted to stay close to home and the program reportedly has a good NIL bag if they wanted to get in the mix. They need a true anchor at center to compete in the Big East and right now, the former Scarlet Knight big man is the top available option.
