NCAA Basketball: Alabama, Kentucky rises in latest way-too-early top-25 power rankings for 2024-25
20. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks are going to be the toughest team to analyze here this offseason, mainly because of the lack of depth. They have just eight players on the roster, including three true freshmen who followed Coach John Calipari over from Kentucky, as well as a few transfers.
This is a team that has two of the top transfers from the portal in Jonas Aidoo and Johnell Davis but the lack of depth is a major concern right now. They have four available roster spots with few viable options left to fill, even after bringing back Trevon Brazile. Unless the freshmen are ready for big minutes, Arkansas will have some growing pains in the Calipari era.
19. Purdue Boilermakers
When you lose a 2-time National Player of the Year (Zach Edey), you’re naturally going to fall down a tier or two next season. The other losses (Lance Jones and Mason Gillis) are underrated in terms of what the team will be missing, while also recently losing top-40 wing commit, Kanon Catchings.
Still, the backcourt duo of Braden Smith and Flecther Loyer are back and will be one of the best in NCAA Basketball. And there are plenty of returning depth pieces such as Trey Kaufmann-Renn and Camden Heide. If incoming 7’3 center Daniel Jacobsen can have an instant impact, Purdue could remain in the Big Ten title chase next season.
