There are reportedly a few teams in the mix for high-scoring transfer Camren Hunter. Which of them is the best potential fit?

One of the earlier entrants to the NCAA Basketball transfer portal was Camren Hunter, a former ASUN Rookie of the Year who spent two years at Central Arkansas, both as a starter. The 6'3 guard from Arkansas averaged 16.9 ppg and 3.9 apg in 2022-23, before sitting out all of last season for personal reasons.

A year ago, Hunter entered the portal and committed to Butler, before changing his mind and going back to Central Arkansas. With the coaching change there, he's not coming back. In an article by Dushawn London of 247sports, there are three teams reportedly after the sophomore guard the most. Check out how he'd fit with them below.

Missouri Tigers

After going winless in SEC play, Missouri is going to have plenty of turnover on its roster. Leading scorer Sean East is gone, along with Nick Honor. So outside of Tamar Bates, they'll need more scoring. They did land 6'7 wing Jacob Crews to start out but will need more. Hunter should be able to find a spot in the rotation here.

New Mexico Lobos

The Lobos had one of the best trio of guards in all of NCAA Basketball last season but Jaelen House ran out of eligibility, while losing Jamal Mashburn Jr. to the transfer portal. Hunter could replace them and can play in the Mountain West as a likely starting guard. If Donovan Dent and JT Toppin come back, New Mexico should remain a contender in the league.

Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels will be losing Allen Flanigan after this season and senior guard Matthew Murrell very well could go pro. Right now, only Jaylen Murray is the safe bet to return to the team, with a couple of backup guards like Austin Nunez and TJ Caldwell potentially leaving in a few weeks.

As we saw with former Saint Peter's guard Murray, guards from the low-majors can excel for Coach Chris Beard at Ole Miss. Hunter can do the same but there's going to be competition for minutes on the perimeter. Compared to the other two options, Hunter could get buried on the depth chart.
